Johnny McDaid Pays Tribute to New Girlfriend Rosie Months After Courteney Cox Split

Johnny McDaid, the ex-partner of actress Courteney Cox and frontman for the band Snow Patrol, publicly acknowledged and paid tribute to his new girlfriend, Rosie, during a speech at the BMI's President's Award ceremony on Tuesday. This event occurred three months after the revelation of his split from Cox.

McDaid, 50, who accepted the award for his contributions to songwriting, expressed his affection for Rosie during his acceptance speech. "My family that are here, Anya, Josh, Sheila and my partner Rosie, thank you for all your support and I love you," he told the audience. This public declaration suggests his new relationship has progressed significantly since reports of his separation from Cox first emerged.

Reports of McDaid's separation from Cox, with whom he had been in a relationship for over a decade and was briefly engaged, surfaced in June. Sources close to the couple indicated the split was amicable, with friends suggesting they had simply grown into living "different lives." Cox, 62, known for her role as Monica Geller in the sitcom "Friends," is based in Los Angeles, while McDaid, originally from Northern Ireland, has primarily resided in London, though they often divided their time between the U.S. and the UK.

The pair began their relationship in 2013 after being introduced by mutual friends, including Ed Sheeran, and announced their engagement the following year. McDaid, a frequent collaborator with Sheeran, co-wrote several of the artist's major hits. This was not the first time the couple had separated; they previously ended their relationship in 2015 before reconciling several months later.

In past interviews, Cox reflected on their relationship's challenges, admitting to becoming "co-dependent" and struggling with how to express love in the same way McDaid did. She described their connection as "precious" and something to be "coddled." She also noted personal mistakes, such as "people-pleasing," which she felt impacted their relationship.
