Johnny Flynn Joins 'MobLand' Season 2 as the Enigmatic Frankie

British actor Johnny Flynn has joined the cast of "MobLand" for its second season, portraying the character Frankie. This new addition introduces a significant antagonist for the series' established figures, Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy), Conrad (Pierce Brosnan), and Maeve (Helen Mirren).

Frankie is described as a "paladin," a term used to signify a trusted military leader or a champion of a cause. His presence is felt at the conclusion of the season premiere, setting him up as a formidable adversary. "I don’t know if the Harrigans have faced a threat like Kat or Frankie," Pierce Brosnan commented on the new dynamic.

Flynn, known for his roles as David Bowie in "Stardust," Dylan Witter in Netflix's "Lovesick," and Mr. Knightley in "Emma," draws inspiration for his "MobLand" character from the late 1960s and mid-1970s era. He mentioned playwright Joe Orton as an influence, noting characters with a "sexually ambiguous menace and eeriness."

In addition to his acting career, Flynn is also a musician. His band, Johnny Flynn and The Sussex Wit, is set to release their latest album, "Beam Cottage," on November 6. He also previously performed the theme song for the British comedy series "Detectorists."

"MobLand" Season 2 is available for streaming on Paramount+. The series offers two subscription plans: Essential at $8.99 per month and Premium at $13.99 per month. Paramount+ can also be accessed through Prime Video or Hulu, with options for a free trial via YouTube.
