Johnny Depp Eats Decorative Plant at Las Vegas Party
The actor was filmed consuming artificial greenery at an after-party for his rum brand.
Johnny Depp was observed eating artificial leaves from a decorative plant wall at a Las Vegas after-party on Saturday night. The event was held at the Park MGM for his rum brand, Three Hearts, during Drink Las Vegas.
Video footage captured the 63-year-old actor, dressed in a dark outfit, wide-brimmed hat, bandana, tinted eyeglasses, and multiple rings, approaching a step-and-repeat wall adorned with faux greenery. He was seen burying his face in the artificial foliage, emerging with leaves that he then appeared to chew. At one point, he spat out the leaves and repeated the action, even clinking glasses with attendees between bites.
The incident comes as Depp continues to re-establish his career following his highly publicized defamation trial against his ex-wife, Amber Heard. In July, he made a surprise appearance at Comic-Con to promote his upcoming film, “Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol,” appearing in prosthetics as Charles Dickens’ Ebenezer Scrooge.
More recently, in August, producer Jerry Bruckheimer hinted at the possibility of Depp reprising his iconic role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a future “Pirates of the Caribbean” installment. Bruckheimer told Deadline that a screenplay was in development for a potential sixth film in the franchise. However, reports suggest that while Depp might return, a separate installment is being developed to center on Margot Robbie's character, with Depp potentially in a supporting role.
In a 2013 interview with Charlie Rose, Depp reflected on his unique perspective, stating, "Most things that are considered normal and that are very well accepted in life, I’m fascinated by... Because they just seem like odd things to me."
