John Torode and Lisa Faulkner Sell London Home for £1.8M After MasterChef Exit

Celebrity chef John Torode and his wife, Lisa Faulkner, have sold their North London home for £1.8 million, approximately 15 months after Torode's departure from the BBC's MasterChef.

The couple, who purchased the five-bedroom property in Muswell Hill for £1.2 million in 2015, reduced the asking price by £105,000 to complete the sale. The property has been a significant part of their lives, serving as the location for their YouTube cooking show, "John and Lisa's Kitchen and Home."

Property Details and Renovation

The extensively renovated three-floor home features a bespoke kitchen and dining area that opens onto a south-facing garden. Torode and Faulkner, who married in 2019, undertook a significant renovation project after buying the property, preserving its original Edwardian features while incorporating modern amenities such as designer bathrooms and timber sash windows. The property also includes a garden office.

MasterChef Departure and New Ventures

Torode's exit from MasterChef followed an upheld allegation that he sang along to Kanye West's song "Gold Digger," which contains a racial slur, at a 2019 wrap party. While Torode stated he had no recollection of the incident, his contract was not renewed after a BBC investigation. This occurred shortly after co-judge Gregg Wallace's dismissal over alleged misconduct.

Torode described his dismissal as a "shock" and stated he was "devastated" after a 20-year tenure on the show. He indicated he would not pursue legal action, viewing further conflict as damaging. Despite his exit from MasterChef, Torode continues to appear on ITV's "This Morning" for regular cooking segments.

YouTube Show and Faulkner's Health

The couple launched their YouTube cooking channel in December of the previous year. Faulkner, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in April, has spoken about using her garden for recovery, finding solace with family and friends. She expressed contentment with a life focused on cooking with her husband for their YouTube channel and acting.

Financials

Land Registry documents confirm the sale for £1,795,000. While the profitability of their YouTube venture is not yet public, company filings show varying financial health for their respective businesses. Torode's TV production company, Caspar 10, had £47,351 in reserves as of April 2025, while his food venture, Mr Johns Limited, reported a £3,825 deficit in May 2025. Faulkner's TV business, Gigi Media Limited, held £564,796 in the latest figures.

Torode and Faulkner met on "Celebrity MasterChef" in 2009 while both were married to previous partners. Torode has four children from previous relationships, and Faulkner is a mother to her adopted daughter, Billie.
