Actor John Schneider, known for his role as Bo Duke in "The Dukes of Hazzard," is publicly addressing the ongoing legal dispute with his ex-wife, Elvira Schneider, over spousal support payments. The actor expressed his bewilderment at the expectation of continued financial support after a marriage has ended, stating that "everything's a negotiation."
Elvira Schneider has alleged in court filings that John owes over $2.3 million in unpaid spousal support, including more than $984,000 in accrued interest. She is seeking portions of his Screen Actors Guild pension and Social Security benefits if the full amount cannot be paid.
Schneider is contesting the claim, arguing in his legal response that his former wife has miscalculated the amount owed and has not provided sufficient evidence to support her figures. The couple married in 1993, and Elvira filed for divorce in 2014, with the divorce being finalized in 2019. The actor stated his hope that the protracted dispute will conclude soon, acknowledging the strangeness of the situation after so many years.
During the interview with Fox News Digital, Schneider was in Washington, D.C., where he performed at a concert celebrating America's 250th anniversary. He described the invitation to perform as an honor and reflected on attending the nation's Bicentennial celebration as a teenager.
Schneider also commented on the importance of partnership in relationships, emphasizing mutual commitment and responsibility. He spoke about his current marriage to his wife, Dee Dee Sorvino, praising her dedication.
Schneider, who also starred in "Smallville" and Tyler Perry's "The Haves and the Have Nots," co-founded the Children's Miracle Network. He expressed optimism about his future, stating that his best days are still ahead of him.
