John Goodman and Wife Anna Beth Enjoy Rare Date Night at 'Digger' Premiere
The "Roseanne" actor showcased his significant weight loss while attending the Los Angeles premiere with his wife.
John Goodman and his wife, Anna Beth Goodman, made a rare public appearance together for the Los Angeles premiere of the film "Digger." The couple, married since 1989, arrived at the event where Goodman, known for his role in "Roseanne," was seen in a black suit with a striped collared shirt and gray tie. Anna Beth Goodman wore a deep plum gown with a black clutch.
This outing also provided an opportunity for Goodman to display his notable weight loss. The actor began his health journey in 2007 when he weighed close to 400 pounds. After becoming sober, he worked with personal trainer Mackie Shilstone, adopted a Mediterranean-style diet, and focused on portion control.
In 2010, Goodman shared that he had lost over 100 pounds by cutting sugar from his diet and committing to regular exercise, including workouts six days a week. He described his past eating habits as "eating all the time" and compared it to drinking alcoholically, noting that he would lose weight rapidly only to regain it by returning to old habits. Goodman has incorporated boxing and daily walks into his fitness regimen.
He has also credited sobriety as a significant factor in his transformation. Goodman quit drinking in 2007 after years of alcohol abuse, stating he wanted to "live life better." He previously told The Rolling Stone that his boxing routine involves hitting mitts and bags for about an hour to an hour and a half, which he finds beneficial, though he has avoided sparring.
The couple welcomed their daughter, Molly Evangeline, in 1990 and chose to raise her away from the public eye in New Orleans.
