John Boyega Reveals Secret Marriage and Impending Fatherhood
The "Star Wars" actor shared personal life updates during a recent interview.
John Boyega, widely recognized for his role as Finn in the "Star Wars" franchise, has revealed that he has been secretly married for two years and is expecting a baby boy. The actor shared these personal milestones in an interview with The Guardian, published on October 4.
Boyega confirmed his marital status when questioned about the ring he was wearing, explaining that he and his wife opted for a small ceremony two years ago. He expressed a desire to hold a larger wedding celebration in the future. The identity of his wife remains private.
"We both like the idea of celebrating something established, rather than celebrating the entry," Boyega told The Guardian, referencing their decision to marry before a larger celebration.
The actor also shared that the couple is expecting a son. "My baby’s on the way," he stated. "We got a baby cooking."
Boyega added that he has become a stepfather to a young boy, reflecting on his current life situation. "So, you know, my life is completely, completely fulfilled in terms of family," he said.
Boyega has previously been vocal about the online harassment he has faced from some fans due to his role in "Star Wars." In 2020, he addressed racist fan reactions on Instagram Live. He also praised Disney in 2022 for its support of "Obi-Wan Kenobi" star Moses Ingram, who also experienced racist abuse online.
"It makes me feel like, ‘Okay, cool. I am not the elephant in the room,’" Boyega said at the time. "Because when I started, it wasn’t really a conversation you could bring up."
He further elaborated on the experience, drawing a parallel to Moses Ingram's situation. "Sometimes you’re not the guy to get the blessing and sometimes you are Moses, you know, you lead the people to the mountain, but you see the destination," he explained. "You don’t get to go in, you get others to go in. And that’s where you get your happiness from."
