Comedian John Bishop has been forced to cancel his upcoming U.S. and Canadian tour dates in October due to a broken ankle sustained in a motorbike crash. Doctors have advised him against flying long-haul while in his medical air boot, which he must wear for six weeks.

Bishop, 59, expressed his disappointment in a video shared on X, formerly Twitter. "I'm absolutely gutted," he stated, apologizing to ticket holders. "I was so looking forward to coming back over and seeing you all."

The "Here's John Bishop" tour was scheduled to include six shows in New York, Boston, Vancouver, Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto between October 15 and October 25. Bishop indicated that efforts will be made to reschedule the dates and that ticket purchasers will be contacted by their point of purchase.

This is not the first event Bishop has had to withdraw from due to his injury. He recently pulled out of a charity bike ride for Prostate Cancer UK with Sir Chris Hoy after the accident. Bishop explained that he learned a lesson about motorbike riding after crashing during a ride with astronaut Tim Peake. "Astronauts are better motorcyclists than comedians," he quipped.

The comedian, 59, was set to take to the stage to perform six shows in the US and Canada in October as part of his Here's John Bishop tour

Fans offered messages of support and recovery wishes in the comments section of his announcement. Sir Chris Hoy and Tim Peake also sent well-wishes, with Hoy stating, "Heal fast mate! So sorry we won't get to see you but there's always next year!"
