Podcaster Joe Rogan has cautioned liberals against attempting to shift the political landscape of Texas to a more liberal alignment, arguing that it would disrupt a “delicate balance” beneficial to all residents.

Rogan, who relocated from California, expressed concern that the influx of liberal voters could undermine the existing political dynamic, which he described as a liberal pocket in Austin surrounded by a predominantly conservative state. He stated on his podcast that this balance contributes to the state's overall well-being.

"The liberals that want to turn Texas blue, like, don't. You're going to ruin it," Rogan said. He drew an analogy to an ecosystem, emphasizing the need for balance. "You can't kill all the predators because then the deer get overrun... And you can't kill all the deer, because then there's no food. That's what they did when they were market hunting. Balance. And you need balance with humans, too."

He characterized Austin as a liberal and progressive city but noted that even its liberal residents are more moderate than those in far-left leaning cities like Los Angeles or New York. Rogan specifically cited the saying, "Keep Austin Weird… and surrounded," interpreting the latter part as being surrounded by conservative areas.

Rogan has previously spoken about his decision to leave California, citing its progressive policies and what he perceived as a decline in direction, particularly in the aftermath of the 2020 George Floyd protests.

Texas has experienced significant population and economic growth in recent years. IRS migration data indicates a substantial inflow of taxpayer wealth, and Census figures show that its major metropolitan areas, including Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio, are among the fastest-growing in the nation.
