Joe Rogan: Trump Voters Feel Betrayed by Iran War

Podcaster Joe Rogan stated that President Donald Trump's voters feel betrayed by the ongoing war in Iran, as many supported him based on his promises to end foreign conflicts. Rogan discussed the issue with actor Michael Douglas on his podcast, expressing his own disapproval of the war.

"I do not like this Iran war in any way, shape, or form," Rogan said. "It doesn't make any sense for us. It seems like it's getting really out of hand."

Rogan argued that a significant portion of Trump's base voted for him precisely because he pledged to avoid engaging in new wars. "Most people who voted for him based on that feel very upset that there's a new war going on," he added.

Douglas, who is Jewish and a Democrat, agreed with Rogan's assessment, calling the conflict a "giant quagmire" with "no easy way out." He also expressed surprise that U.S. and Israeli intelligence had not better managed the situation.

Douglas suggested that Israel may have instigated the conflict, stating, "I think it was instigated by Israel by the fact that they had information that these key Iranian leaders would all be together and were persuaded that we take them all out."

Rogan acknowledged that Iran's suppression of protesters and mass arrests have been highlighted, but he questioned the conviction behind the decision to engage in military action.

Trita Parsi, executive vice president of the Quincy Institute, told Fox News Digital that Rogan's assessment of the political fallout for Trump is accurate. "The war has created a major rift within the Republican Party and created a MAGA vs. America First coalition," Parsi said. "Moreover, the GOP's ability to bring anti-war constituents to its side has been severely damaged."

Parsi predicted that many anti-war voters who left the Democratic Party due to conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza might return to the Democrats because of the war in Iran. "These voters were crucial to Trump's success in 2016 and 2024, and their significance is only likely to grow," he stated.

A White House spokesperson, Davis Engle, countered that Trump's actions are aimed at eliminating threats and ensuring American safety. "He campaigned proudly on his promise to deny the Iranian regime the ability to develop a nuclear weapon, and Americans are already safer because of his bold leadership," Engle said. "The President makes these incredibly important national security decisions based on the best interests of the American people."
