Podcaster Joe Rogan stated on his show that a guest who appeared in 2024, Sheldon Johnson, is accused of murdering and dismembering a man in New York City approximately one month after their interview.

Johnson, who presented himself as a reformed criminal justice advocate and ex-convict, was arrested in spring 2024. He faces charges of second-degree murder in connection with the death of Collin Small. According to reports, Small was allegedly shot dead in a New York City apartment, after which his body was dismembered and hidden in various locations.

Law enforcement officers responding to the initial scene discovered Small's headless torso and later found his dismembered feet in a plastic bin. Additional body parts were reportedly recovered from Johnson's Harlem apartment.

During his appearance on "The Joe Rogan Experience," Johnson discussed his past and his efforts to turn his life around after serving time for armed robberies in 1999. He was released from prison in 2019. At the time of his podcast appearance, Johnson was reportedly working as a client advocate for the public defender's office in Queens.

During the interview, Johnson stated, "I said to myself, ‘I’ve been doing bad for so long. I’m going to try to do something good.'"

Reports indicate that both Johnson and Small had prior prison experience, though the nature of their relationship is not publicly clear. Johnson appeared on the podcast alongside civil rights attorney Josh Dubin, who advocates for individuals with wrongful convictions.
