Joe Rogan Renews Spotify Deal in Multi-Million Dollar Agreement
The popular podcast host extends his partnership with the audio streaming giant, maintaining his position as a dominant force in digital media.
Joe Rogan has signed a new multimillion-dollar deal with Spotify to continue streaming "The Joe Rogan Experience" on the platform. The renewal of the licensing agreement was confirmed by Spotify on Thursday, following a report from The Wall Street Journal.
Jordan Newman, Head of Content Partnerships at Spotify, stated that the company aims to foster continued growth with "The Joe Rogan Experience" through this ongoing partnership. Rogan expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, describing Spotify as an "incredible" company and the partnership as an "amazing fit."
"I’m extremely happy and excited to continue with them for years to come," Rogan said in a statement.
While specific financial terms of the new deal were not disclosed, sources familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal that the terms are comparable to Rogan's initial agreement with Spotify, which was reported to be worth approximately $250 million. The podcast's initial exclusive deal with Spotify began in 2020. In 2024, a subsequent agreement allowed "The Joe Rogan Experience" to also be available on YouTube and Apple Podcasts.
"The Joe Rogan Experience" has achieved significant popularity across all three platforms, reportedly becoming the most popular podcast on each within weeks of Spotify agreeing to share distribution. Notable episodes that have gained substantial traction include interviews with Elon Musk and Donald Trump. Rogan has since expressed a more critical stance towards Trump.
Originally launched on YouTube in 2009, the show currently boasts 21.1 million subscribers on that platform. On Spotify, it has garnered 18 million followers.
Newman highlighted the enduring nature of Rogan's show and its ability to connect with a vast global audience, noting that "there’s simply nothing else like it."
In a June episode, Rogan claimed that efforts were made by former presidents to de-platform him over content related to COVID-19 vaccine misinformation. He recalled the challenges sponsors faced and the organized campaigns against him, crediting Spotify's non-American base for providing him the freedom to express his views. "Thank God I was on Spotify. And thank God Spotify is not an American company," he stated. Spotify is headquartered in Sweden.
Rogan began voicing skepticism regarding the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines shortly after their rollout in 2021. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention continues to recommend COVID-19 vaccination for healthy individuals, advising them to assess their personal risk factors.
Rogan also maintains other professional commitments, including work for Paramount and the UFC.
