Joe Mixon to Visit Seahawks Amidst Mysterious Texans Departure
Running back Joe Mixon, who missed last season with a foot injury, is reportedly set to visit the Seattle Seahawks.
Joe Mixon, a two-time Pro Bowl running back, is scheduled to visit the Seattle Seahawks on Monday, according to Fox Sports reporter Jay Glazer. Mixon's NFL career has been uncertain since his departure from the Houston Texans, following a mysterious foot injury that sidelined him for the entire past season.
Prior to his injury, Mixon, 30, achieved over 1,000 rushing yards in five of his first eight NFL seasons, playing for both the Cincinnati Bengals and the Texans. His injury was described by Texans General Manager Nick Caserio as a "freak medical situation." Mixon was released by the Texans in March at his own request.
Reports in July from Texans reporter Aaron Wilson indicated that Mixon had told former teammates he did not expect to play again. Wilson noted that while Mixon had not filed retirement papers, he had expressed to former Bengals teammates that his career was over. A source close to Mixon suggested there was some hope for a return, but that it was likely over.
The Seahawks are actively seeking to bolster their running back position. The team currently has rookie first-round pick Jadarian Price on injured reserve. Additionally, Zach Charbonnet is still recovering from ACL surgery performed in January, impacting the team's depth at the position.
