Joe Manganiello's Fiancee Celebrates Anniversary Amid Memoir Release Detailing Sofia Vergara Split
Caitlin O'Connor and Joe Manganiello marked their three-year anniversary with a trip to Las Vegas, coinciding with the release of Manganiello's memoir that includes claims about his previous marriage to Sofia Vergara.
Joe Manganiello's fiancée, Caitlin O'Connor, celebrated the couple's three-year anniversary with a custom arcade gift and a trip to Las Vegas to see Metallica. This milestone comes as Manganiello is set to release his memoir, "Bloodlines," which details his past struggles and his split from ex-wife Sofia Vergara.
O'Connor, 37, gifted the "True Blood" star, 49, a custom arcade machine featuring "One Piece" and 13,000 games. The couple, who met in 2023 at an HBO after-party and became engaged in 2025, also attended two Metallica concerts in Las Vegas. They were joined by Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves at the shows. The pair also caught a Pittsburgh Steelers game.
Looking ahead to their wedding, O'Connor, who shares Manganiello's Pittsburgh roots, plans to incorporate a local wedding tradition by designing a cookie table. The actor's chihuahua, Bubbles, adopted in 2019 while Manganiello battled an autoimmune disease, will also be part of the wedding festivities.
Manganiello's memoir, "Bloodlines," due for release on October 13, is expected to shed light on his severe health battle and its impact on his marriage to Vergara. Excerpts from the book have revealed Manganiello's claims that Vergara allegedly refused to hug him even when he begged, and that she authorized doctors to perform life-saving emergency surgery in 2016, which involved the amputation of part of his intestines.
Manganiello, who split from Vergara in July 2023 after seven years of marriage, has spoken about his painful autoimmune disease that left him suicidal. He described his symptoms to People as a "gremlin in the control room of my body flipping switches." The memoir details excruciating abdominal pain, rashes, fevers, headaches, and rectal bleeding that led to a 60-pound weight loss over seven years.
The book also addresses the breakdown of his marriage to Vergara, which he claims became "devoid of any emotionality whatsoever." He refuted Vergara's previous statements to El País suggesting their separation was due to his desire for children, which she stated she did not want. Manganiello claimed their attempts to start a family were impacted by his illness and failed IVF attempts, leading them to consider egg donors.
Manganiello stated he is now off medication and pain-free after reconnecting his digestive tract. He credits his recovery to alternative treatments, including visiting a shaman who suggested generational trauma was a factor. He has also expressed openness to starting a family with O'Connor.
