Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has addressed concerns about his back tightness, assuring fans that he expects to play in Sunday's game against the Houston Texans. Burrow was limited in Wednesday's practice, not participating in team stretches or throwing during quarterback drills, and appeared to be wearing a shoulder brace. However, he downplayed the severity of the issue, calling the notion of missing the game as a precaution "ridiculous."
"If I’m not getting surgery, I’m going to be out there," Burrow told reporters. He acknowledged taking several hard hits during the Bengals' recent victory over the Buccaneers but could not pinpoint the exact moment the injury occurred. "I didn’t really start feeling it until after the game," Burrow said. "That’s typically how it happens. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow."
Despite the recurring injury issues throughout his career, including a torn ACL and MCL in his rookie season, a calf strain, a torn wrist ligament, and a Grade 3 turf toe injury that required surgery, Burrow expressed confidence in his ability to play.
Should Burrow be unable to play, veteran quarterback Joe Flacco is the Bengals' backup.
