Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has dispelled speculation about his future with the team, stating his commitment to the franchise.
"I mean what I say," Burrow told Bengals.com. "I'm here for the long haul. I'm not going anywhere."
Burrow, who signed a five-year, $275 million contract extension in 2023, is currently under contract through the 2029 season. His primary receivers, Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase, are also under contract through 2029 and 2028, respectively. This core offensive unit has been cited as one of the most formidable in the league, but also contributes significantly to the team's salary cap.
Last season, Burrow was limited to eight games due to a toe injury, impacting the team's performance. The Bengals defense also allowed more yardage than any other in the league in 2025. Despite these challenges, Burrow earned Pro Bowl honors in 2025.
"If I want to keep doing this, I have to have fun doing this," Burrow said in December. "I have been through a lot. If it's not fun, then what am I doing it for? That is the mindset I am trying to bring to the table."
Burrow expressed pride in representing Cincinnati, the state of Ohio, and the Brown family, stating a desire to make them proud. He is aiming to bring a "now-or-never mentality" and a "championship mindset" to the team's daily process.
Despite defensive struggles in 2025, the Bengals have made defensive additions, including All-Pro defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, safety Bryan Cook, and defensive end Boye Mafe. The team is set to open its 2026 season at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
