Jodie Sweetin Recounts Bob Saget Saving Her From Drive-By Shooting

Jodie Sweetin, known for her role as Stephanie Tanner in the sitcom "Full House," has revealed that her late television father, Bob Saget, saved her from a drive-by shooting incident. The actress shared the story during a recent reunion of the "Full House" cast at 90s Con.
Sweetin recounted the event, which took place in the late 1980s or early 1990s, when she and Saget were attending a Janet Jackson concert. While parked outside the venue, she exited the car and upon returning, the vehicle's window was shattered by gunfire. "It was a drive-by," Sweetin said, describing the moment the window exploded around them. "I leaned over to tie my shoes, and it’s just like 'pop pop pop' and the whole thing shattered."
She explained that after the shooting, they had to wait for two taxis to pick them up before Saget drove her home and had to explain the incident to her mother. Sweetin humorously noted that this event, along with others, made Saget less of a favorite with her mother.

Saget, who passed away in 2022 at the age of 65, starred as Danny Tanner, the widowed father of DJ and Stephanie Tanner, on "Full House" from 1987 to 1995. The series also spawned a Netflix reboot, "Fuller House."
At the 90s Con event, Sweetin was joined by several of her "Full House" co-stars, including Candace Cameron Bure, John Stamos, Lori Loughlin, Dave Coulier, Scott Weinger, and Andrea Barber, marking a rare reunion for the cast.
Saget's death in January 2022 prompted an outpouring of tributes from friends and colleagues. An autopsy later revealed that he died from blunt force trauma after an accidental fall in his hotel room.
Sweetin has been open about her past struggles with drug addiction, which she has discussed in various interviews. She married her fourth husband, Mescal Wasilewski, in 2022. She has two daughters from previous marriages.
