Jodie Sweetin Recalls Bob Saget Saving Her From Drive-By Shooting

Jodie Sweetin, known for her role as Stephanie Tanner in the sitcom "Full House," shared a harrowing personal anecdote at '90s Con in Connecticut, recalling how her TV dad, Bob Saget, saved her from a drive-by shooting. The incident took place after a Janet Jackson concert during the late 1980s or early 1990s.

Sweetin described being in a car with Saget after the concert when a person shot at their vehicle, shattering the car window. "I leaned over to tie my shoes and it’s just like ‘pop pop pop’ and the whole thing shattered," Sweetin recounted, according to People. Following the event, Sweetin and Saget had to find alternative transportation, waiting for two station wagon taxis as ride-sharing services were not yet common.

Saget then drove Sweetin home and had to explain the situation to her mother, a detail Sweetin humorously noted might not have endeared Saget to her mom. Sweetin, now 44, admitted that she sometimes questions the reality of the event, thinking, "Did that actually happen?"

Saget, who passed away in January 2022 at the age of 65, played Danny Tanner, the father figure to Sweetin's character on "Full House." The official cause of Saget's death was later determined to be blunt head trauma, resulting from an accidental fall where he hit the back of his head before going to sleep.

The '90s Con event also featured a reunion of several "Full House" cast members, including Candace Cameron Bure, Lori Loughlin, John Stamos, Dave Coulier, Scott Weinger, and Andrea Barber. Sweetin previously shared in August that the close-knit group chat of the "Full House" cast has become quieter since Saget's passing, noting that his absence is deeply felt during cast gatherings.
