Joanne McNally Recounts Being Fooled by Richard E. Grant on 'Celebrity Traitors'
The comedian jokingly called herself 'the most gullible human alive' after being convinced by actor Richard E. Grant's portrayal as a faithful on the BBC show.
Comedian Joanne McNally has humorously reflected on her perceived gullibility during the recent season of "Celebrity Traitors," specifically regarding her trust in actor Richard E. Grant.
McNally, 43, admitted on her podcast "My Therapist Ghosted Me" with Vogue Williams that she was completely convinced Grant, 69, was a faithful contestant on the show. Despite Grant's eventual reveal as a traitor, McNally stated she defended him wholeheartedly, believing his assurances.
"When I say I have never believed something more than he was the faithful, it was wild," McNally said. "He is the most unbelievable man. I believe all their lies. They look me in the eye and I believe their lies and then I go out and ride at dawn for them and I make a shell of myself."
Williams, her co-host, pointed out that Grant's admission of being a traitor in the first episode made it seem obvious, but McNally countered that experiencing the deception firsthand was different from watching it as a viewer. She described Grant as a "really good actor" and playfully labeled herself "the most gullible human alive."
The show itself generated discussion among viewers for its cliffhanger ending in the first round table, which concluded before a vote was cast. This abrupt halt left fans eager for the subsequent episode to see the outcome of the debate surrounding Grant's true allegiance.
In the same episode, former BBC Radio 4 host Amol Rajan was eliminated from the game after being targeted by traitors Richard E. Grant and Maya Jama.
"Celebrity Traitors" airs on BBC One on Thursdays at 8 p.m.
