Joanna Page Advises Daughter on Acting Career Path

Actress Joanna Page has shared that she is offering guidance to her 13-year-old daughter, Eva, who is keen to embark on an acting career. Eva, described by her mother as 'incredibly artistic' with a 'great singing voice,' has expressed a strong desire to attend drama school in London.

Page, who is also mother to Kitt, 11, Noah, nine, and four-year-old Boe, revealed that Eva's interest in acting developed rapidly. Initially, Page thought her daughter might pursue a career in costume design or the art department due to her artistic talents. However, Eva's focus has now shifted entirely to acting.

"She's got it all lined up, wants to go to drama school, wants to go to London," Page told the Daily Mail. "She's told me she won't be coming home for dinner and I'm not allowed to go into London and try and hang out with her. She's very independent right now. But yeah, she full-blown wants to be an actress."

When asked about the advice she has imparted, Page emphasized the importance of perseverance and self-confidence. She also humorously noted that an actor is "always full of lies," explaining that this refers to the necessity of confidently claiming skills like horse riding or boxing for auditions, even if lessons are required afterward. "Just go for it, just be confident in yourself. Don't try and change the thing which makes you different to everybody else because that's the thing which makes you unique," Page advised her daughter. She added, "Don't try and fit in with anybody else. If you're in an audition, you use it as your time, it's your time... No, they desperately want you to get the job. If you walk in and they're like, 'Whoa, we found the person straight away.' That's amazing."

Page also discussed balancing her career with raising her four children with husband James Thornton. She acknowledged experiencing "mum guilt" when away from her children, despite her husband's capable management of the household. The couple, who have been together since 1999, describe their marriage as a partnership that requires effort, especially given their demanding careers. "Married life and living with somebody else is difficult. You go through hard times, you don't always get on with each other, you do end up annoying each other. But don't give up," she stated. Page highlighted the importance of communication and laughter in their relationship, noting that while grand dates are rare due to time constraints, her husband offers thoughtful gestures like flowers and chocolates.

In a separate initiative, Page has partnered with Smart Energy GB to promote the use of the extra hour gained when clocks go back as an opportunity for household tasks. She mentioned that having a smart meter has helped alleviate some of the stress of daily life.
