Joan Collins, 93, recently shared insights into her age-defying appearance and lifestyle secrets while relaxing at her St. Tropez villa. The actress, known for her roles in Hollywood, maintains her look through a combination of diet, exercise, and skincare, asserting that she has not undergone extensive plastic surgery or Botox treatments.
Collins has spoken about her approach to eating, noting that as she has aged, she consumes significantly less food than she did in her youth. She stated that at 50, she eats half the amount she did at 25, and at 75, half of that again. For quick weight loss if needed, she opts for a regimen of boiled eggs and broccoli for three days. She also emphasizes the importance of the quality of food consumed, favoring nutritious whole foods and consuming an avocado daily. She avoids junk food but allows herself occasional indulgences such as a glass of wine or dessert.
Her exercise routine has evolved over the years. As a young woman, she was highly active, frequenting dance halls and nightclubs. Later, she incorporated gym workouts and Pilates. However, she has noted that as one gets older, the body cannot withstand the same level of stress. Due to a past trapped nerve that temporarily limited her mobility, she now focuses on physiotherapy, performing exercises for about half an hour daily, which she finds energizes her. She also swims regularly, maintaining her mobility and flexibility, and has stated she can still perform the splits with ease.
Skincare is another crucial element of Collins's routine. She adheres to a strict regimen, never leaving the house without SPF and keeping her face out of the sun. She has worn sun protection and a hat in the sun since she was 20, attributing her preserved facial skin to these practices. Her nighttime routine involves removing makeup with a Nivea cleanser followed by a Charlotte Tilbury night cream, a habit instilled by her mother at age 14. For red carpet events or after flights, she uses a simple trick learned from Marilyn Monroe's makeup artist: applying ice-cooled cotton pads to her eyes for five minutes to reduce puffiness.
Collins has been vocal about her stance on cosmetic procedures, stating she has not had Botox or other surgeries, as it would impede her ability to express herself as an actress. She believes that the lines and jowls visible on her face are proof that she has not undergone such treatments. She also adheres to sleeping on her back to avoid what she calls "scrunchy face."
