Joan Collins, 93, Attends Claridge's Book Launch with Husband Percy Gibson
The veteran actress shared insights into her marriage and lifestyle philosophy.
Actress Joan Collins, 93, and her husband, film producer Percy Gibson, 61, attended a book launch at Claridge's Hotel in London on Wednesday.
The couple was seen holding hands as they arrived to celebrate the launch of "Claridge's: Queen of Hotels, Hotel of Kings," penned by Martin Williams. The book explores the iconic hotel's history.
Collins, who has been married five times, met Gibson in 2000 during a production of the play "Love Letters" in the United States. They married in 2002.
Speaking on the Shooting Star Children's Hospices podcast "Shooting Star Unwrapped," Collins described their relationship, noting that while they have "little spats," they fundamentally like and love each other. She emphasized the importance of liking one's partner beyond initial attraction.
"We met at the beginning of this century — a quarter of a century ago — when we were working together on a show in San Francisco," Collins recalled. "I liked him immediately — he was so hardworking, clever and knowledgeable about the theatre, and very kind, and good-looking too."
She added that their marriage has been "pretty solid, touch wood," attributing its success to mutual liking and love. Collins also highlighted Gibson's positive relationship with her children and grandchildren.
Collins also discussed her approach to maintaining her appearance, stating that it is not due to cosmetic surgery. She has previously shared that she consumes less food than she did in her youth, aiming to live to 100.
"You need half the food at 50 as you ate at 25. Half as much again at 75," she told The Express. "I'm going to live to be 100, and I am telling you: look after your skin. Never leave the house without make-up."
She advised against strict dieting, instead recommending eating less and opting for simple meals like "broccoli and boiled eggs" if weight loss is needed. Collins also suggested avoiding tap water.
