Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel returned to his show this week, noting a shared summer of "accomplishing nothing" with former President Donald Trump. Kimmel drew parallels between his own hiatus and Trump's activities, specifically pointing to the ongoing repairs of the Reflecting Pool at the Lincoln Memorial.

Kimmel observed that upon his return, gas prices remained high, the war with Iran continued, and the Reflecting Pool was still in a state of disrepair following what he described as Trump's "botched repair" attempt. He presented footage of the pool, which had a fence blown into it by a storm and contained minimal water as work continued.

"Wait, are you telling me the president of the United States had three full months and spent $20 million and couldn’t even get a pool cleaned?" Kimmel questioned, showing the current state of the landmark. He quipped, "How are we supposed to win the war with Iran when we can’t even win the war against algae?"

The host also commented on Trump's online activity during the summer, describing him as "crazier than ever" for posting memes and AI-generated content numerous times daily. Kimmel remarked that Trump's frequent posts, including one about renaming New Mexico to "New America," almost felt like a personal welcome back.

Kimmel offered a humorous response to the "New America" idea, stating, "Listen, if there was a new America, we’d all go there immediately. We’re all for that!" The late-night host used one of Trump's own memes against him, poking fun at the former president's perceived lack of productivity over the summer months.
