Jim Thornton, the announcer for "Wheel of Fortune," has been suspended as Sony Pictures Television Studios investigates allegations against him. The studio confirmed the suspension and stated that the role is being recast during the investigation.

Thornton, who has been the announcer for the popular game show since 2011, was reportedly involved in an incident on an American Airlines flight in May. According to reports, a passenger complained about Thornton's behavior on Flight 1276 to Los Angeles International Airport, and law enforcement met the aircraft upon arrival. Thornton was not taken into custody.

Prior to his tenure on "Wheel of Fortune" and "Celebrity Wheel of Fortune," Thornton had a notable career in voice work and broadcasting. He provided voices for shows such as "Celebrity Death Match," "The Cleveland Show," and Pixar's "Monsters, Inc." He also worked on "The Price is Right" and "Jeopardy!" and has been with KNX 1070 Newsradio since 1985.

Thornton succeeded the iconic Charlie O'Donnell, who passed away in 2010, as the announcer for "Wheel of Fortune." He has received accolades including an Edward R. Murrow award and an Emmy.
