Jets Wide Receiver Adonai Mitchell Limited in Practice with Finger Injury

The New York Jets are facing a new injury concern at the wide receiver position, with Adonai Mitchell being limited in practice on Thursday due to a finger injury. His availability for Sunday's game against the Lions is currently unclear.

Mitchell, who is considered the team's No. 2 receiver, has had a strong start to the season, recording nine receptions for 123 yards. His potential absence would be a significant blow to the Jets' receiving corps, which is already without rookie wideout Omar Cooper Jr. due to a high ankle sprain.

Beyond Mitchell and Garrett Wilson, the primary receiving options for the Jets are return specialist Isaiah Williams. Rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq could see an increased role if Mitchell is unable to play.

In an effort to bolster the receiving depth, the Jets recently signed undrafted rookie Malik McClain to the active roster. He had previously been on the team's practice squad. Additionally, former Giants receiver Sterling Shepard is currently on the practice squad.

In other team news, the Jets' defense forced five fumbles in a recent game but only recovered one. Defensive coordinator Brian Duker expressed that while unusual bounces occurred, he was generally pleased with the team's technique in pursuing fumbles.

Running back Breece Hall, preparing to face the Lions' star running back Jahmyr Gibbs, acknowledged that he lacks Gibbs' explosive speed but admires his talent.

Several other players did not practice on Thursday, including running back/kick returner Kene Nwangwu (back), tight end Mason Taylor (thumb), safety Minkah Fitzpatrick (groin), and linebacker Kiko Mauigoa (quad).
