Jets Rookie David Bailey Credits Social Media Break for Focus
The No. 2 overall pick deactivated his Instagram account to concentrate on his game.
New York Jets edge rusher David Bailey, the No. 2 overall pick in the recent NFL draft, has deactivated his Instagram account, stating he was spending too much time on the platform and wanted to refocus his energy on football.
Bailey, who has not had an account on X (formerly Twitter), made the decision early in the season. He explained that the addictive nature of Reels and scrolling consumed time that could be better allocated to physical conditioning, playbook study, or other productive activities.
His decision comes after a standout performance on Sunday, where he recorded three sacks and was subsequently named AFC Defensive Player of the Week. Bailey, however, indicated that this success has not altered his perspective on social media usage. He feels the strong defensive performance was a collective effort from the entire defensive line, with everyone executing their assignments effectively.
Bailey was a standout at Texas Tech before being selected by the Jets. His commitment to maximizing his performance on the field is reflected in his choice to step away from social media platforms that he believes were detracting from his focus and development as an NFL player.
