The New York Jets are set to commence their 2026 NFL season with an away game against the Tennessee Titans. This Week 1 matchup will feature a familiar face on the opposing sideline, as former Jets head coach Robert Saleh makes his debut with the Titans.

Saleh was hired by the Titans during the offseason after being dismissed by the Jets five games into the 2024 season with a 2-3 record. "Our desire to win Week 1, beat the Jets, is because it’s Week 1 and nothing more," Saleh stated regarding the upcoming game.

The Jets will be led by second-year head coach Aaron Glenn, who is aiming to improve the team after a 3-14 finish in his inaugural season. "I have something to prove to myself," Glenn commented. "I understand what it takes to be a head coach. I like being in this position as a head coach and to make sure we can take this team, and I say we and I emphasize we because it’s not just me, that we can take this team exactly where it needs to go. When I talk about something to prove, I want to prove it to myself more than anything."

This season opener also marks the return of quarterback Geno Smith to the Jets. Smith was traded from the Raiders to the Jets prior to the 2026 draft, setting up his second tenure with the team where he previously played from 2013 to 2016.

The Jets vs. Titans game is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. ET on September 13 from Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. The game will be broadcast on CBS.
