Jets Fall to Patriots, Continuing Road Woes in Foxborough

The New York Jets' familiar struggles at Gillette Stadium continued Sunday as they lost to the New England Patriots 26-19. This defeat marks the Jets' 15th loss in their last 16 road games against their AFC East rivals, dropping their season record to 2-4.

The Jets started the game with a promising 13-play drive that resulted in a 42-yard field goal. However, their offense stalled afterward, and costly mistakes on defense allowed the Patriots to build a lead.

New England took a 10-3 lead after a quick two-play drive following a sack that pushed the Jets' offense back. Quarterback Drake Maye connected with Romeo Doubs for a 42-yard touchdown. The Patriots extended their lead to 17-3 before halftime with a nine-yard touchdown pass from Maye to DeMario Douglas.

The Jets began to rally in the third quarter. After an unsuccessful fourth-down attempt by the Patriots, quarterback Geno Smith connected with Omar Cooper Jr. for a 48-yard touchdown pass, narrowing the deficit to 17-10. Following a fumble forced by the Jets' defense, the team kicked another field goal to make it 17-13.

However, the Patriots re-established control. A crucial 15-yard pass to Hunter Henry on third down allowed New England to extend a drive. Maye then threw his third touchdown pass of the day, this time to tight end Hunter Henry, extending the lead. The Jets' offensive struggles continued, highlighted by an interception by Geno Smith early in the fourth quarter. Despite forcing a turnover and kicking another field goal to get within a touchdown, the defense faltered again.

A 27-yard field goal by kicker Andy Borregelas with just over a minute remaining sealed the victory for the Patriots. The Jets managed a late field goal, but New England recovered the ensuing onside kick to secure the win.
