Jets Face Mounting Pressure After Third Consecutive Loss

The New York Jets dropped their third straight game on Sunday, falling to the Chicago Bears 23-12 and bringing their season record to 1-3. The loss has intensified questions surrounding the future of head coach Aaron Glenn.

Glenn, who is 4-17 as the Jets' head coach, referred to "outside noise" in the wake of the defeat. This season was always expected to include a referendum on his coaching tenure, and the early results have been unfavorable. While the team had two competitive losses against the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions, the overall record includes a complete no-show performance in Chicago.

Despite the mounting pressure, Glenn has stated he believes he should remain head coach for the entire 2026 season and that owner Woody Johnson should refrain from making in-season changes. This approach contrasts with the owner's past decisions, such as the mid-season change of Robert Saleh in 2024. However, a continued lack of wins could force Johnson's hand.

The upcoming Week 5 game against the Cleveland Browns (3-1) is being framed as critical for Glenn and the Jets' season. A loss to Cleveland would put the team at 1-4, potentially shifting the focus towards the NFL Draft. A victory, however, could preserve hope and keep the season interesting into November.
