The New York Jets hosted former Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis and UFL MVP Jack Plummer for workouts on Thursday as the team explores options to enhance its quarterback depth. This comes shortly after the Jets named rookie Cade Klubnik as the primary backup to starter Geno Smith.
Levis, 27, was a second-round pick by the Titans in 2023. He started 21 games for Tennessee in the 2023 and 2024 seasons but did not play last season. The Titans released him on Sunday as part of roster cuts. Plummer was named MVP of the UFL this season for his performance with the Orlando Storm, where he threw 17 touchdowns against one interception. He spent time on the Carolina Panthers practice squad in 2024 but did not appear in a game.
Klubnik, a fourth-round pick from Clemson, is currently the only other quarterback on the Jets' active roster besides Smith. The team appears willing to take a risk on Klubnik as the backup after observing his performance in practices and preseason games over the summer.
Should the Jets decide to sign either Levis or Plummer, they would likely be added to the practice squad. The Jets currently have Bailey Zappe on their practice squad as well.
