Jets Cornerback Nahshon Wright Expresses Frustration Amid Limited Playing Time

Cornerback Nahshon Wright has expressed his frustration with his current situation on the New York Jets, where he has yet to record a single defensive snap this season.

"It's been frustrating," Wright said this week. "I just want to play, that's it. I think any competitor would be frustrated with not playing."

The Jets signed Wright to a one-year, $3.5 million contract in free agency following a season where he recorded five interceptions for the Chicago Bears. He was anticipated to compete for a starting role, but a training camp injury derailed those plans. Second-year player Azareye’h Thomas seized the starting position and has performed well, leaving no playing time for Wright.

Wright was inactive for four weeks before becoming active for the most recent game due to another player's disciplinary issues. Despite his lack of playing time, Wright stated he has not received any explanation from the coaching staff regarding his status.

With the NFL trade deadline approaching on November 10, Wright is a potential trade candidate. While he has not explicitly requested a trade, he has engaged in conversations with the team's front office.

"We've spoken. I wouldn't say necessarily that I want to go somewhere else," Wright said. "I am just trying to figure out what is best for me, whether that's here or somewhere else."

When asked if he would welcome a trade, Wright deferred to management, stating, "That wouldn't be my decision. That would be [GM Darren] Mougey's decision."

In other team news, the Jets placed nose tackle T’Vondre Sweat on injured reserve due to a knee injury and signed Payton Page to the active roster. Additionally, offensive tackle Brant Banks and edge rusher Quinton Bell were elevated from the practice squad for the upcoming game.
