Jets Coach Aaron Glenn Maintains Positive Dialogue With Owner Woody Johnson Amidst Losing Streak
Despite a 4-17 record and job security questions, Glenn reports open and trusting conversations with Jets owner Woody Johnson.
New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn stated that his conversations with owner Woody Johnson remain "very positive" despite the team's current three-game losing streak and an overall record of 4-17 in his two seasons. Glenn indicated that he and Johnson maintain open communication, discussing game outcomes and team performance.
"I can say we speak after the games all the time and he gives me his thoughts. I give him the rundown of how things go and I mean, that’s the beauty of our relationship is being able to have open dialogue with each other, throwing everything on the table. There’s also a trust factor there," Glenn said.
Glenn's tenure has been marked by significant struggles, with the team having lost eight of its last nine games dating back to the previous season. Questions about his job security for the 2027 season have surfaced.
Glenn's relationship with Johnson predates his coaching role. They have known each other since 2000, when Johnson acquired the team and Glenn was a player. Glenn later returned to the organization as a scout before being hired as head coach in 2025.
Earlier in the week, Glenn adjusted the team's schedule by canceling practice and holding a walk-through session. This decision was made in response to the 89 plays the opposing team's offense ran against the Jets the previous Sunday, with Glenn prioritizing player recovery.
"[The] defense had a good amount of plays, and plus I want this to be a recovery day anyway, for everybody, just to make sure we take care of our bodies and get ready to go through this week on a good note to play against a good team," Glenn explained.
In terms of player availability for the upcoming game, tight end Mason Taylor, who missed the previous two games with a thumb injury, is expected to return after being a full participant in practice. Edge rusher Kingsley Enagbare was limited with a knee issue. Running back Breece Hall (quad), wide receiver Adonai Mitchell (finger), guard Dylan Parham (knee), cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. (concussion), and linebacker Kiko Mauigoa (quad) did not practice. Wide receiver Tim Patrick was designated to return from injured reserve. The team also signed edge rusher Nate Lynn to the active roster and placed Braiden McGregor on injured reserve, signing Nathan Voorhis to the practice squad.
