Jets Coach Aaron Glenn Faces Fan Backlash After Halftime Interview Blunder

New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn has drawn criticism from fans following a perceived error during his halftime interview in the team's recent game against the New England Patriots.

During the break on Sunday, Glenn stated in a sideline interview with CBS, "The good thing is, we get the ball. We get a chance to go move it and finish." However, when play resumed, social media users quickly pointed out that the Jets did not receive possession to start the second half.

The discrepancy led to a flurry of online reactions, with many fans questioning the coach's awareness. "Not knowing who gets the ball to start the half is a rough one," one user posted on X. Another commenter expressed bewilderment, asking, "How is he still the head coach!?!??" Other comments included "Well he should’ve been fired months ago so whatever" and "There's genuinely nobody worse than this guy."

Some supporters suggested that Glenn might have been alluding to the defense needing to secure possession, though his phrasing was interpreted by many as a clear misstatement about kickoff.

The game concluded with the Jets losing to the Patriots 26-19, marking their fourth defeat of the season. Patriots quarterback Drake Maye contributed significantly to the win, completing 18 of 32 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns. This performance makes Maye the fifth quarterback in franchise history to achieve three touchdown passes in three consecutive games.

This incident follows a previous moment that drew public attention in February when Glenn appeared to be asleep during the NFL Combine. He was captured on the stadium's big screen while edge rusher David Bailey was preparing for his 40-yard dash. Glenn, 54, appeared startled when he seemingly realized he was being broadcast, a moment that also became a subject of online jokes.
