A JetBlue Airlines flight struck a drone at an altitude of 3,000 feet while approaching New York's John F. Kennedy (JFK) Airport on Monday morning. The pilot reported the collision to air traffic control during the aircraft's final approach.

"We collided with a drone back there in the turn as we were coming to ASALT, just wanted to pass to you," the pilot communicated to the controller, according to audio obtained by WABC. The flight had departed from Las Vegas.

Despite the impact, the pilot indicated that no assistance was required. The aircraft, a JetBlue flight, landed safely at JFK. A spokesperson for the airline stated that the plane was removed from service for a post-flight inspection, which found no damage or evidence of the collision. The airline has pledged to cooperate with any relevant investigations.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced it will investigate the reported incident. This event follows closely behind another drone-related near-miss involving a United Airlines jet landing at Newark International Airport just days prior, as reported by the FAA and local news outlets.
