A JetBlue Airways flight from Las Vegas collided with a drone as it was landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City on the morning of June 29, 2026. The pilot reported the incident to air traffic control, stating the aircraft struck the drone at an altitude of about 3,000 feet.

"We collided with a drone back there in the turn as we were coming to ASALT," the pilot said in audio obtained by WABC. ASALT is a navigation reference point.

The drone reportedly struck the plane near the cockpit. The pilot indicated that the aircraft was not in distress and could continue with the landing. A post-flight inspection by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) revealed no damage to the aircraft. The FAA stated it will investigate the incident.

A JetBlue representative confirmed that the flight landed normally and all passengers disembarked safely. "The flight landed without incident, customers deplaned normally, and the plane was removed from service for a post-flight inspection, which found no damage or evidence of a collision," the spokesman said. "Safety is JetBlue's first priority, and we will assist with any relevant investigations."

This event occurs nearly two months after a Delta Air Lines regional flight reported a near-miss with a small aircraft as it approached JFK. In that instance, an air traffic controller warned the Delta pilot of a small plane approximately 500 feet above their aircraft.
