Jet Skis Used to Drop Migrants on California Beach, Then Flee

Suspected human smugglers used jet skis to drop off a group of migrants on a California beach on Saturday before fleeing back into the ocean, according to video footage and reports. The incident occurred at Imperial Beach in San Diego County.

The video shows two jet skis approaching the shore with passengers in tow, who then disembarked into the water. The individuals struggled to wade through the waves as the jet skis quickly returned to open water.

Shortly after, a lone law enforcement officer on an ATV arrived on the beach. The officer pursued one of the migrants who was attempting to flee and apprehended them. The footage was shared by community organizer Amy Reichart, who stated that U.S. Border Patrol was activated following the event.

This incident follows a trend of smugglers utilizing the Pacific Ocean to transport migrants into California. Last week, a boat carrying suspected migrants landed in Newport Beach, alarming local residents. Officials from U.S. Customs and Border Protection did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but sources familiar with the incident confirmed the video's authenticity.
