Singer Jesy Nelson officially introduced her boyfriend, Ben Davies, to the public at the National Television Awards (NTAs) on Tuesday, just weeks after confirming their relationship. Nelson, 35, walked the red carpet solo earlier in the evening, but her new partner was visible beside her during the ceremony.
Davies appeared to watch Nelson proudly as her documentary, "Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix," was nominated in the Authored Documentary category. The award, however, went to "Our Girls: The Southport Families."
Nelson has been a vocal advocate for increased awareness and screening for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), a rare genetic condition. Her advocacy followed the diagnosis of her 16-month-old twins, Ocean and Story, with SMA Type 1. Her efforts have been credited with contributing to the government's decision to implement a national rollout for newborn screening for the condition.
"I feel super proud that my girls' story has been a part of change and I can't wait when they're a bit older and they understand to be able to tell them that," Nelson stated. She added, "I've always said I want this to be their little superpower and I feel now, when they understand, I can let them know that."
Previously, Nelson "hard launched" her relationship with Davies at the end of August by sharing a photo of him on Instagram. The image showed Davies driving a Range Rover while holding Nelson's hand. This marked the first time Davies's face was publicly shown on her social media, following earlier hints such as a shared date at a rooftop bar.
Nelson and Davies's relationship began after Nelson's split from her ex-fiancé Zion Foster. Nelson spoke in her Amazon Prime documentary about the challenges of their breakup, especially in light of their twins' diagnosis. "It's a very traumatic thing that we've both been through," she said. "You'll either be a team or it'll tear you apart and unfortunately I feel that's what it's done to me and Zion."
During the NTAs event, Nelson wore a black dress with a plunging sweetheart neckline, paired with matching PVC gloves and a thigh-high split. This public appearance comes after an earlier report of an incident at a bar where Nelson and Davies were reportedly asked to leave following a disturbance. A source claimed Davies was seen "getting in people's faces," which led to a heated exchange with bouncers. Nelson's representatives were contacted for comment at the time.
SMA is a muscle-wasting condition that can affect a baby's ability to sit up, crawl, or walk. In severe cases, it can impact breathing and swallowing. Early detection through blood tests, typically administered shortly after birth via a heel prick, can significantly improve treatment outcomes.
