Jesy Nelson Defended by Fans After Paris Trip Amidst Child Care Concerns

Jesy Nelson has faced scrutiny from some followers after taking a trip to Paris with her new boyfriend, Ben Davies, while her twin daughters remained at home. The singer, who recently pulled out of a reported six-figure deal to appear on 'I'm A Celebrity', shared photos of her romantic getaway on Instagram.

Some social media users commented negatively, questioning her decision to travel without her children, who both suffer from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and require constant medical care. One comment read, "I’d be spending all my time with my children not some guy that’ll last a few months…", to which Nelson responded, "oh Sami hun have a day off."

However, a significant number of Nelson's fans quickly defended her, asserting that mothers are entitled to breaks and personal happiness, especially those caring for children with complex medical needs. Supporters highlighted that a happy parent can often be a better parent, and argued against judging Nelson based on limited social media portrayals of her life.

"Mums can't pour from an empty cup, especially those who have twin babies with complex needs. A happy Jesy = an even better Mummy," one fan commented. Another wrote, "Mums are allowed time off also, dads get plenty to themselves!!! Keep smiling Jesy and keep loving life you deserve happiness."

Nelson's decision to withdraw from 'I'm A Celebrity' was reportedly due to her children's health. A source told The Sun that "Ocean and Story are unwell and there is no way Jesy would leave them. Her family are her priority." The report added that ITV has been supportive of her decision, leaving the door open for future participation.

Nelson publicly revealed her daughters' SMA diagnosis in January and has been an advocate for increased screening and awareness of the condition. She has previously been praised for her efforts in persuading the government to announce a national rollout of newborn screening for SMA.

Nelson confirmed her relationship with Ben Davies, a landscape gardener, by sharing photos of him on Instagram in late August. She later brought him as her date to the National Television Awards, where her documentary 'Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix' was nominated.
