Jessie James Decker Credits Jambalaya for Winning Over Husband Eric Decker

Jessie James Decker attributes her successful courtship of NFL star husband Eric Decker to a specific dish: jambalaya. The singer told Fox News Digital that the spicy Creole staple was instrumental in winning him over during their first weekend together.

More than a decade into their marriage, food continues to play a central role in the couple's relationship. Decker emphasized that for her, meals are not merely sustenance but an "event" and a "celebration."

Decker, co-author of the cookbook "The Secret Sauce," explained that her husband, a former NFL wide receiver, initially had little experience with Southern Cajun cuisine. "I mean we all know he loves the jambalaya that's how I sealed the deal and had him fall in love with me after one weekend," she stated.

The cookbook, which she wrote with her mother Karen Parker and sister Sydney Rae Bass, features a chapter titled "Cajun Queen," dedicated to recipes her mother often prepared. Jessie noted that this type of flavorful cooking has become a favorite for Eric.

While Eric is a fan of her cooking, he has also offered his support in other ways, including participating in promotional material for her cookbooks. In social media videos, he humorously posed with only her books covering him, making playful puns to highlight their contents. This has become a recurring theme, as he previously appeared in similar lighthearted promotions for her earlier books.

Beyond her culinary endeavors and family life, Decker also highlighted the importance of maintaining family traditions, particularly family dinners. Despite busy schedules with their four children—Vivianne, Eric Jr., Forrest, and Denver—she prioritizes gathering around the dinner table to discuss their day.

"The Secret Sauce" cookbook aims to share family traditions rooted in Southern, Sicilian, and Cajun influences, offering recipes and entertaining tips intended to foster connection among loved ones. Decker noted that while the recipes come from her family's traditions, they are meant to be adopted and adapted by readers to create their own family customs.
