Jessie J announced her split from partner Chanan Colman, stating that they ended their romantic relationship "some time ago." The singer shared the news on Instagram on Monday, following a trip to Copenhagen, Denmark, where she performed a concert.

J appeared with her three-year-old son, Sky, and her parents, Stephen and Rose, in a video montage of her "summer full of love" that she posted to Instagram on Tuesday. The trip included a performance at the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, a city significant as Colman's birthplace. The video showed J in a bikini and splashing in the sea with Sky, as well as touring backstage areas.

In her statement, J explained the decision to announce the breakup publicly. "Unfortunately being in the public eye this is the easiest way to let people know the truth, before rumours circulate or a false narrative is written," she wrote. She emphasized that the situation has been "sad and difficult" but that their focus remains on a positive co-parenting environment for their son. J added that she and Colman will continue to support each other as friends and as Sky's parents.

J and Colman welcomed their son in May 2023 and began dating in 2021. The singer had previously spoken about marriage, telling PEOPLE magazine in May 2025 that it was not an immediate focus, as having a child together meant they were already "locked in."

This announcement follows J's recent news of being cancer-free, a year after her diagnosis. She revealed her cancer diagnosis on social media in June of the previous year and underwent surgery later that month. Colman had been a supportive presence throughout her breast cancer journey, including during a period when she needed to reschedule tour dates for further treatment. J had shared that going public with her diagnosis was a way to process it and show solidarity with others, noting that it gave her "incredible perspective."
