Jessica Simpson Debuts Brunette Hair, Reflects on Music Comeback and Body Image Pressures
The singer showcased a new look in Los Angeles and spoke about the pressures she faced early in her career regarding her appearance and weight.
Jessica Simpson has unveiled a striking new hair color, trading her signature blonde locks for a warm brunette shade. The 46-year-old singer was spotted at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) over the weekend with her newly dyed tresses styled in beachy waves.
Simpson's latest public appearance comes as she continues to navigate a busy period of professional activity. She recently released new music, made acting cameos, and has been focusing on her fashion design ventures. These endeavors follow her split from ex-husband Eric Johnson, with whom she was married for 10 years before their separation in January 2025.
During a recent concert in Pennsylvania, Simpson spoke candidly about her return to music and the pressures she encountered early in her career. She recalled being advised by her record label to look more like contemporaries Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, and feeling pressure to lose weight. Simpson, who was 17 at the time, stated that she weighed 115 pounds when asked to shed additional weight.
"I really thought I was signed just because of my voice, then it was like, 'OK, you need to lose 15 pounds,'" she shared with the audience, according to Us Weekly.
Simpson also reflected on her return to performing in her 40s, noting that the experience feels more comfortable than being at home. "I missed all of my 30s, so this really, to me, feels like I'm me again," she said. "I feel like walking on stage is almost more comfortable than my living room at home, and it's such a beautiful feeling."
In addition to her music career, Simpson has also returned to acting. She recently made a surprise cameo in Kim Kardashian's Hulu legal drama "All's Fair," which premiered last fall. Simpson shares three children with Johnson: daughters Maxwell, 14, and Birdie, seven, and son Ace, 13.
