Meghan Markle's former close friend, Jessica Mulroney, has launched a new lifestyle brand named The Haus of Her. The private members club and community space is designed for "women in the middle of a defining transition." Mulroney, who first met Markle in 2011 while filming the television series "Suits" in Toronto, founded the venture with businesswoman Val Bryden. The club is currently accepting membership requests and plans to host a "Make Your Own Scent" event on September 15 at Toronto's Orris Labs.
For $39 per month, members will receive a subscription box curated with items intended to "invigorate, inspire, and relax." This venture follows Mulroney's previous efforts to engage her Instagram followers with exclusive content, including styling tips, starting in December.
The launch of The Haus of Her draws parallels to Markle's own lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard (formerly known as "As Ever"), which debuted in 2024 and offers products inspired by Markle's interest in cooking and entertaining.
Mulroney and Markle were once understood to be extremely close, with Mulroney serving as a confidante to Markle, reportedly assisting when Markle began dating Prince Harry in 2016. However, their relationship appeared to fracture in 2020 following a public controversy involving Mulroney and blogger Sasha Exeter. Mulroney was accused of displaying "textbook white privilege" in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Following the accusations, Mulroney issued multiple public apologies and faced professional repercussions, including being dropped by television networks. Her husband, Ben Mulroney, later described the situation on a podcast, stating that Exeter had "taken advantage of the George Floyd moment" and fabricated a narrative about his wife. He claimed that private messages showed Exeter antagonizing Mulroney, leading to retaliatory threats.
Despite the past closeness, sources indicated in 2020 that Markle had permanently distanced herself from Mulroney. While some insiders suggested the friendship had simply evolved and the two had grown apart, others pointed to the fallout from the Sasha Exeter incident as the cause. Markle has not publicly addressed the situation with Mulroney in years. Mulroney's children had prominent roles in Markle's 2018 royal wedding, with her twin sons serving as pageboys and her daughter as a bridesmaid alongside Princess Charlotte.
Mulroney has since worked to re-establish her brand, collaborating with retailers like Aritzia, Revolve, and Fwrd. She also teased a potential return of her wedding show "I Do, Redo" in 2024, hinting at a return to her wedding planning roots.
