Jessica Alba has shared the sentiment behind the matching tattoos she received with her daughter, Honor, for the teenager's 18th birthday. The actress revealed on Instagram that the identical eye ink on their left wrists signifies being "Forever connected and protected."
Alba, 45, posted a black and white photograph showcasing the tattoos, which also feature small infinity signs. The design appears to be inspired by a painting created by Honor, depicting a blue eye within a heart. The artwork was done by Los Angeles-based artist Daniel Winter, known as 'Winterstone.'
"It was a combined process we all designed," Winter told the Daily Mail. He added that it was "great giving Honor her first tattoo on her actual 18th birthday, and matching with her mom."
Eye tattoos are often interpreted as symbols of protection, wisdom, and intuition. Honor, who celebrated her 18th birthday on June 7, also shared a glimpse of the tattoos on social media in July, captioning the post with "me x mama" and infinity sign emojis.
Alba previously expressed her pride and love for Honor in a tribute for her 18th birthday in June. "As I reflect on the last 18 years, I can honestly say they have been the most profound of my life," Alba wrote. "You opened my heart and expanded my understanding of love in ways I never knew were possible." She added, "You are wildly intelligent, endlessly curious, and I could not be more proud of the young woman you have become."
Honor is following in her mother's footsteps, with a passion for filmmaking. She recently made her directorial debut with a short film titled Unsaid, released on Vimeo on July 2. In the fall, she will attend Yale University to study English and film studies.
Alba shares Honor, along with two other children, Haven, 15, and Hayes, 8, with her ex-husband Cash Warren. The couple announced their split in January 2025 after 16 years of marriage, with their divorce finalized in February. Alba has since been romantically linked to actor Danny Ramirez.
