Jessi Draper, star of the Hulu series "Secret Lives of Mormon Wives," has revealed that reality television personality Scheana Shay attempted to join her show. Draper shared this information during an appearance on "House of Stassi," hosted by former "Vanderpump Rules" castmate Stassi Schroeder.
Draper stated that Shay expressed a desire to move away from Bravo entirely and inquired about potential opportunities on "Secret Lives of Mormon Wives." According to Draper's recollection, Shay said, "So do you have any events coming up? [My husband] Brock [Davies] was Mormon so maybe I can come be on your show."
Schroeder, who was an original cast member of "Vanderpump Rules" alongside Shay, expressed little surprise at the alleged attempt. In a confessional segment, Schroeder commented, "Scheana loves the spotlight. I would be more surprised if she didn’t try to get on ‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.’"
Shay's tenure on "Vanderpump Rules" concluded following the show's significant cast overhaul in 2024. The original cast, including Shay, was let go after the eleventh season. Shay had been a part of the show since its premiere in 2013.
Earlier in 2024, Shay had shared on her podcast, "Scheananigans," that an executive producer had warned the cast about the show's precarious position. The producer reportedly indicated that the show might be canceled if certain creative benchmarks were not met during filming of Season 11. This warning, Shay explained, created significant pressure to produce compelling content, not only for the cast but also for the approximately 80 to 100 crew members employed on the production. Following the confirmation of the original cast's dismissal, sources indicated that the entire cast was understandably upset.
