Families in Jersey have less than a week remaining to apply for financial assistance to help cover the costs associated with preparing children for the new school year. The application window for the Back to School Bonus scheme closes on Friday, July 31.

This initiative provides a one-time payment of up to £150, intended to help parents and guardians purchase necessary items such as uniforms, stationery, and other school essentials. The scheme is available for children from reception age up to Year 11.

The funding for the Back to School Bonus was initially announced in April by the previous government. It is designed for parents who do not receive income support and whose combined household income is £75,000 or less.

Successful applicants can expect the funds to be deposited into their bank accounts in August, in time for the upcoming academic term. Eligible families are encouraged to submit their applications before the end-of-July deadline to ensure they receive the support. The application process aims to alleviate some of the financial pressure on families during the back-to-school period.
