Jerry O'Connell recently shared a candid and humorous anecdote about his wife, Rebecca Romijn, and her choice of natural deodorant. Speaking on the "Thanks Dad with Ego Nwodim" podcast, O'Connell, 52, revealed that Romijn, 53, uses crystal deodorant, which relies on natural mineral salts to combat odor.
"And I'm here to tell everyone, it doesn't work," O'Connell stated on the podcast. "The crystals under the arms doesn't work." He went on to describe his personal reaction to his wife's natural scent, indicating a surprising fondness for it. "Now I don't mind the way my wife - it doesn't offend me. I actually, ah - this is gonna get a little dirty - I kind of like it when I can smell my wife's body odor," he admitted. O'Connell further elaborated on this sentiment, describing it as a sign of vitality. "It's kind of like, yeah - she's alive, we're alive, we're living. It's, like, a little kicking and like, it's a little funky town."
The couple, who married in 2007, are parents to 17-year-old twin daughters, Dolly and Charlie. Romijn and O'Connell began dating in 2004. Their nearly two-decade marriage will reach its 19th anniversary on July 14.
The discussion also touched upon Romijn's past marriage to actor John Stamos. Stamos had previously made remarks in a memoir, referring to Romijn as "the devil" who "ruined my life." He explained that the public perception was that Romijn's career was thriving while his was not at the time of their divorce in 2004, which he found humiliating. Stamos later addressed his struggles with alcoholism, seeking treatment in 2015. He remarried in 2018 and has a son. O'Connell and Romijn were reportedly surprised by Stamos's comments, but the two actors have since reconciled, having a humorous exchange at a recent birthday party.
In terms of professional updates, O'Connell is set to appear in the family comedy "Summer's Last Resort," premiering this Friday on Tubi. Romijn is reprising her role as Mystique in the MCU film "Avengers: Doomsday," scheduled for release on December 18, and will conclude her role as Una Chin-Riley/Number One in the final season of "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" later this year.
