The dramatic end to the 2003-2004 romance between Jerry O'Connell and Giuliana Rancic has resurfaced, with O'Connell recently acknowledging his past behavior and Rancic preparing a detailed account.

In an appearance on Kelly Ripa's podcast, "Let's Talk Off Camera," O'Connell addressed Rancic's memoir, which recounts their breakup initiated via intercom. Rancic wrote that O'Connell ended their relationship with the words, "Nope, sorry, homegirl...Things change, but you take care, OK?" O'Connell, in response, admitted he was a "terrible boyfriend" and explained the incident occurred when Rancic arrived at his home unannounced while he was with another woman.

Rancic, upon learning of O'Connell's comments, responded via an Instagram Story. "Apparently my ex-boyfriend has been talking about our breakup publicly after 22 years. Hmm, imagine that, and it seems that his memory's just a little fuzzy," she said, while on vacation. She initially considered a brief statement but has now announced a "40-minute podcast" episode dedicated to the breakup, extending an invitation to O'Connell.

O'Connell's explanation for the intercom breakup involved Rancic's unannounced arrival at his condominium. He stated he did not wish for confrontation and that he had security measures like a buzzer and cameras in place to manage visitors. He did not explicitly deny using the exact wording Rancic attributed to him, stating he couldn't recall the precise verbiage.

The resurfaced drama comes months after O'Connell reportedly ended a longstanding feud with John Stamos, the ex-husband of O'Connell's current wife, Rebecca Romijn. Stamos had written about feeling "emasculated" during his marriage to Romijn in his 2023 memoir, a sentiment Romijn later expressed surprise and shock over. O'Connell had previously commented dismissively on Stamos's revelations. O'Connell and Romijn have been married since 2007. Giuliana Rancic has been married to Bill Rancic since 2007, and they co-host a podcast together.
