Jerry Jones Calls Cowboys' Loss to Buccaneers 'Extraordinarily Disappointing'

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones described his team's 24-16 home loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as "extraordinarily disappointing" following the unexpected defeat on Thursday night. The Buccaneers secured their first win of the season against a Cowboys team that struggled offensively and defensively.

"We really do need to get it done when it’s there to take," Jones told reporters after the game. He noted the physicality of the Buccaneers' performance, particularly their ability to run the ball between the tackles, which he found surprising. "I thought both their fronts — I was really surprised how they ran the ball, how they ran it between the tackles. That was surprising. We thought if they were going to run it, they’d do it outside."

The loss was made more significant by the fact that the Buccaneers were led by rookie backup quarterback Jalon Daniels, who earned his first career win. This came as regular starter Baker Mayfield recovers from a hand injury. Jones acknowledged the Buccaneers' strong performance, stating, "Their staff, their quarterback, all their players, got a great victory tonight and it was a tough loss for us."

The game's decisive moment came late when Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott's pass intended for Jake Ferguson was intercepted by the Buccaneers' Alex Anzalone, sealing the victory for Tampa Bay. Prime Video cameras captured Jones appearing visibly disgusted with the outcome from his suite at AT&T Stadium.

With this loss, the Cowboys fall to a 2-3 record, placing them third in the NFC East. Their next contest is a primetime matchup against the Green Bay Packers on "Sunday Night Football."
