Jermaine Jenas has responded to critics with a defiant message posted in a video on Instagram. The former BBC presenter uploaded footage of himself dancing in his kitchen while balancing pancakes, accompanied by the caption, "I no longer care how the story gets told. F*** you and them… Respectfully."

Jenas, 43, was previously a prominent presenter on BBC's Match of the Day and The One Show. His role on Match of the Day was terminated in August 2024 following the discovery of inappropriate messages sent to two women. His wife, Ellie Penfold, with whom he had been for 16 years, confirmed their split in the wake of the scandal.

He recently appeared on ITV's Good Morning Britain for an interview where he discussed the fallout from the scandal. During the interview, Jenas spoke about experiencing a "tough two-year period" and feeling like he had "lost everything." He also expressed dissatisfaction with the questioning from hosts Kate Garraway and Ranvir Singh, claiming they had "a thirst for blood" and were "skirting around the issue" of his behavior. Singh, in particular, questioned what he had learned from the situation and advised men in positions of power. Jenas stated that he was not there to preach but to explain his experiences and accept responsibility for his actions, adding that he knew what he did was wrong and accepted the punishments.

"I know what I did was wrong and I accept those punishments," Jenas said during the interview. "Nobody is skirting around the responsibility of what I did. I know what I did and I know what I did was wrong. So I don't understand where that line of questioning is coming from."

He also acknowledged that he put himself in a position where he "risked it all" and that this realization was a source of learning. Jenas indicated that he had taken stock of his behavior and recognized that "things have to change."

In his Instagram post, Jenas appeared to be moving forward, stating, "It's impossible to not learn about yourself when you are put into the position that I was put into, that I put myself into."

His former teammate Rio Ferdinand commented on the Instagram post, humorously noting, "Okaaaaay… these tunes don't fit the caption ffs."

Jenas had learned of his dismissal from the BBC while live on air. He has since entered into a relationship with Paris-based estate agent Anne Leplaideur, 31, and the couple was seen holidaying together this past summer. The former footballer suggested that lessons learned from mistakes do not always have to be negative and that there is a tendency in the industry to focus solely on "cancellation."
