Jeremy Sochan, 23, has found a new NBA home, agreeing to a one-year deal with the Portland Trail Blazers, according to ESPN. The terms of the contract have not yet been disclosed.

Sochan's move to Portland follows a short and unproductive period with the New York Knicks. During his 16 regular-season games with the Knicks, he averaged 2.8 points and 2.1 rebounds in 6.9 minutes. He also saw limited action in the postseason, averaging 3.3 minutes across eight playoff games.

The Knicks acquired Sochan in February, two days after the San Antonio Spurs waived him when he was no longer part of their rotation.

Prior to his time with the Knicks, Sochan had a more significant impact in the NBA. Drafted by the Spurs with the ninth overall pick in 2022, he averaged 11.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game on 46.8% shooting from the field over his first three seasons. He was recognized with All-Rookie second-team honors for the 2022-23 season.

Despite his limited role in New York during their recent playoff run, Sochan reportedly provided valuable insight into his former team, the Spurs. He stated in June that he was observing their games and analyzing their plays to offer information that could be useful.

Sochan also commented on San Antonio star Victor Wembanyama, suggesting that a physical and demanding approach could exploit Wembanyama's fatigue. "Being that tall [Wembanyama] gets tired,” Sochan said. “Give him different looks and [not beat him up but] be very physical, and make him run. And he’s gonna get tired, he’s gonna have to take some plays off in my opinion."
